Dr. Gil Alvarado, N.D., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM) is a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist with over 30 years experience helping people improve their health.

Dr. Gil Alvarado is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. He grew up in San Francisco, California. He first began studying herbal therapy and natural healing in the Sierra mountains in California, and later extended this study to other cultures as far away as India. His initial study of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine, prior to his formal schooling, began as a personal mentoring program with Wong Lee Foon, a seventh generation Chinese physician from China.

Dr. Alvarado graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of the State of New York. He received his acupuncture degree from The Northwest College of Acupuncture in Portland, Oregon. He received his degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from The National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He also holds a Diplomate in Acupuncture of The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He established The New Life Center in Charlotte, NC in 1980 and moved it to Chapel Hill, NC in 1992.

Dr. Alvarado is the founding president and a current member of The North Carolina Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He is a licensed primary care naturopathic physician in the state of Arizona and a licensed acupuncturist in the state of North Carolina. He was a charter member of The National Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance, he is a lifetime member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and he is a member of the North Carolina Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

With over 30 years clinical experience, and approximately 50,000 patient visits, Dr. Alvarado offers people who come to him for care tremendous expertise to help them heal. He values the privilege of doing this and loves being able to help peope have healthier and happier lives.
